The Outdoor Center at Sewell Park

General Information

Sewell Park resides just below the headwaters of the spring-fed, crystal clear San Marcos River, and remains 72-degrees year round. You can relax outdoors while taking advantage of two sand volleyball courts, open spaces for informal recreation, an outdoor basketball court, and numerous picnic spots great for relaxing and eating a meal. The park also offers ample open space for sunbathing, and picnicking. You'll also find the Outdoor Center here, nestled under the trees.

The San Marcos River

Conditions of the San Marcos River are constantly changing, and hazards may be present (river depth, rocks, wildlife, etc.). Entering the river is at your own risk, and no lifeguards are present.

Outdoor Equipment Rental Rates

Temperature over 100-degrees: All tubes are only $3 when the outside temperature is 100-degrees or greater!

Early Morning Rentals: All watercraft rented before Noon (excluding tubes) are half-off. Click here for Outdoor Center open hours.

Extended Break Specials (Spring Break & Thanksgiving): All rentals out for the length of the extended break are charged at only the 2-night rental rate!

  • Must be picked up 1-2 days prior to the start of break.
  • No reservations. First-come, first-served.
  • Must be returned the first day after break, no exceptions. Late fees will be applied otherwise.

Off-Season Specials: From November 1st through February 28th, all weekday watercraft rentals (excluding tubes) are half-off.

Equipment Reservations

  • All equipment is available to be reserved up to 7 days in advance.
  • By making a reservation in advance, your equipment will be ready for use upon your arrival to the Outdoor Center.
  • To make a reservation:
    • Call or visit the Outdoor Center during open hours.
    • Let staff know what time and equipment you would like to reserve.
